Hello, I am now searching for a translation of a birth record for Anne Christina Boysen, ops 315  #29 (becareful there is another Anne Christina Maria Boysen #28)  Hostrop, Slogs, Tonder 1797-1860. As well as a translation I am also hoping there are her parents names listed...Thanks in advance! Lynn :)

Hej Lynn
I can't read all, but
Anna Christina Boysen ... tochter (german for daugther)... Peter Boysen and ... Else (I think)..Christensen.
Maybe someone will help you more.
Regards
Birthe

Lynn Jespersen Warfield

Thank you Birthe.  I appreciate your efforts.  I am having great dificulty with researching this part of my fathers family.   I know that Betty Marie Clausen was born 7 Aug. 1870 ops 80 Tonder, Hostrup (1861-1932) and I know she died in the Daler parish on 20 Jan 1947.
What I have found are her parents who are Hans Jensen Clausen and Anna Christina Boysen. I have a census record from 1845 from Tonder, Tonder, Hojer og Lo which shows Hans Jensen Clausen's parents, but I have no birth record to substantiate this.  His parents are listed as Anders CLausen and Dorthea Catherine Christensen.
From what Birthe has told me Anne Christina Boysen's parents are Peter Boysen and Else Christensen..again no birth records for them.
I would like to know who the parents of these persons are but it appears that most of what i am looking for is in German.  Perhaps one of you kind people can assist me?
Thanks,
Lynn :)

Hi Lynn,

I read
Anna Christina Boysen, ehel. Tochter des
Heuerinsten Peter Boysen und der Else
geb. Christensen in Jeising.

ACB, legitimate daughter of the day-labourer, tenant
PB and Else, born Christensen, in Jeising.

The 1845 census with Hans Jensen Clausen is from Abild parish (Tønder, Højer og Lø is the district):

Tønder, Tønder, Højer og Lø, Abild (Slesvigsk), Tykskov, Hufenstelle, 3, FT-1845, C8447
Name:    Age:    Marital status:      Position in household:      Occcupation:      Birth place:
Anders Clausen   52    Verheir.      Hufner   Tykskov Kirch Abild Amts Lügumcloster
Dorthea Cathrine Christensen   35    Verheir.      seine Frau   Cathrine Kirchspiel Amts Ripen
Anne Catrine Clausen   18    Unverheir.      seine Frau   Tükskov Kirchsp. Abild Amts Lügumcloster
Anne Marie Clausen   16    Unverheir.      seine Frau   Tükskov Kirchsp. Abild Amts Lügumcloster

Elisabeth Clausen   6    Unverheir.      seine Frau   Tükskov Kirchsp. Abild Amts Lügumcloster
Maren Clausen   4    Unverheir.      seine Frau   Tükskov Kirchsp. Abild Amts Lügumcloster

Niels Christensen   21    Unverheir.      Dienstknecht   Tondern
Hans Jorgen Fester   27    Unverheir.      Dienstknecht   Aggerskov Amts Hadersleben
* mistake, should be sein Kind

According to the census, Hans Jensen Clausen and his father are born in Abild parish, his mother in Ribe Sankt Katharine parish, Ribe county.

Unfortunately, there are no censuses from the period between 1864 and 1920, when this part of Denmark was under German/Prussian rule. So far, the 1860 census for Tønder county is not fully transcribed at ddd.dda.dk, and it cannot be found at ArkivalierOnline. Please refer to http://www.dis-danmark.dk/kipkort/fronta-e.php, where you can also see which censuses have been lost.

What you need to do, to establish where the parents of Anna Christina Boysen come from, is to find their marriage - much easier said than done.

Marriage of Peter Boysen and Else Chrestensen
(when I take a closer look at Anna Christina's birth record, I read Chrestensen there, too).

Hostrup, Slogs, Tønder 1839-1932, opslag 17 at the top:

den 13 Aug. 1845

Svenningsen und der verstorbenen Else Christina geb.
Chrestensen in Stagstrup, Amts Thisted, geboren
den 17 Jun. 1820.
Der Bräutigam ist vacciniert d. 30 Aug. 1821 v. Dr Neuber in
Apenrade, die Braut v. Chir. Willendorff in Thisted d. 4 Sept. 1824.

PB, bachelor and day-labourer, tenant in Jeising, legitimate
son of the deceased school teacher NB and K born MJ
[her father's name was Matz Jensen] in Alslev, Bjolderup parish,
born 18 June 1817, married to the maid EC in Jeising, legitimate
daughter of CS and the deceased EC born C in Stagstrup, Thisted
county, born 17 June 1820.
The groom vaccinated in Aabenraa, the bride in Thisted [Chir. = surgeon].

Peter Boysen's mother:

Name:    Age:    Marital status:      Position in household:      Occcupation:      Birth place

Christen Svenningsen   66    Enkemand      Almisselem   Huurup Sogn, Thisted Amt

Best regards,
Inger T.

PS: It probably would be a good idea to find the marriage of Hans Jensen Claussen and Anna Christina Boysen, too
- just to be absolutely sure you have the right persons.

Surprise, surprise - it's # 28 who is your ancestor  ;)

Hostrup, Slogs, Tønder 1839-1932, opslag 84:

Marriage ? April 1868
Hans Jensen Claussen. Parents: the deceased Anders Claussen and Elisabeth born Jensen. Born in Tÿkschou/Tykskov, Abild parish 8 Feb 1838.
Anna Christina Maria Boysen. Parents: the deceased Andreas Boysen and Bodil Maria born Duburg. Born in Rohrkarr/Rørkær 31 July 1847.

It seems Andreas Boysen was a widower in the 1845 census:

Tønder, Slogs, Hostrup, Dorf Rohrkarr, Hufengebäude, 19, FT-1845, C6060
Name:    Age:    Marital status:      Position in household:      Occcupation:      Birth place:
Andreas Boisen   51    Witwer      Hufner   Rohrkarr
Peter Nicolai Jensen   26    Unverheir.      Dienstboten   Jeising
Else Marie Sörensen   28    Unverheir.      Dienstboten   Borck pr. Warde

So please forget Peter Boysen and Else Chrestensdatter (interesting story, though).

Best regards,
Inger T.

Anna Marie Boisen   4    Unverheir.      Ihre Kinder   K. Hostrup
Mariane Boisen   1    Unverheir.      Ihre Kinder   K. Hostrup

She's a widow at the marriage 19 May 1846 (Hostrup 1839-1932, opslag 20).

I think this must be Hans Jensen Clausen's mother:

Tønder, Tønder, Højer og Lø, Abild, , , 5te Familie, Vz-1801*, C0314

Proof reading done by: Annelise Brahtz
Number of records: 72
Comments: Denne FT er udført den 13. FEB 1803. (This census was conducted 13 Feb. 1803.)
Men den omfatter de kongerigske undersåtter i sognet Abild, og hører derfor med til FT-1801 for kongeriget.

She died 28 March 1838, 39 y 1 m (Abild, Tønder, Tønder 1826-1900, opslag 331).
Her parents Jens Hansen Laulund in Abild and Anna Maria born Peters are mentioned in the death record.

In the census she has the surname of her father, but in the marriage record of her son the patronymic Jensen is used.

Thanks for all your information, Inger, however I must admit I am a little confused now.  It makes it difficult for me as I don't read the language but as I now understand from what you have posted...
According to the 1845  census you posted with Hans Jensen Clausen, it appears that his father is married to a Dorthea Catherine Christensen but according to the marriage of Hans Jensen Clausen in 1868 it shows his parents are the deceased Anders Claussen and Elisabeth Jensen.  According to Elisabeths death record she died on 28 March 1838 which is just over a month from Hans birth.  Does this mean that Dorthea is a second marriage for Anders Clausen and that she assumably took over the role of his mother?

Hi Lynn,

Anders Clausen seems to have remarried only a short time after the death of Elisabeth Jensen. His daughter Elisabeth Clausen was named after his late wife.

Dorthea Cathrine Christensen was the stepmother of Hans Jensen Clausen, which I didn't know when I quoted the 1845 census, where she is listed as Anders Clausen's wife.

If you have further questions, feel free to ask.

Best regards,
Inger T.

I have now found the birth record for Anders Claussen, who is Hans Jensen Claussen's father.  It is on ops 84, Abild, Tonder, Tonder (1763-1841) Could you translate this record for me so I will know who Anders parents are? Thanks in advance :)  Lynn
