This could be the Jens Sorensen that Mette Marie Christensen went to:

1900
Irene village (pt.), Turner, South Dakota
Jens Sorensen b June 1874 in Denmark to USA 1892
Christina Sorensen b July 1875 in South Dakota
Martin Bahnsen b June 1870 in Denmark to USA 1892

Do you know if she always lived in South Dakota?  Are there old letters?

Here is a Marie Alcorn with the right birth date, but it's probably another coincidence as Massachusetts is a long distance from South Dakota:

Does your mother recall if they came by air in 1952, and if the husband was with them?   The attached could be them if by air, but unfortunately no ages or U.S. residence listed.  It looks like Marion's surname has been changed from Eikhorn to Andersen, which would be logical if she was Marie's daughter by a Danish first husband.

This indicates Marion was married twice:

Name: Marion C (Andersen)[Bollinger] Poulosky
Obituary Date: 8 Apr 2006
Death Date: Abt 2006
Death Place: Sioux City IA
Age: 85
Birth Year: abt 1921

This would be her second husband:

Name: James V "Jim" Poulosky
Obituary Date: 3 Jul 1998
Death Date: Abt 1998
Death Place: Sioux City IA
Age: 78
Birth Year: abt 1920

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Arthur W. "Art" Bollinger, 84, of Sioux City died Tuesday, March 31, 1998, at the Westwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following a lengthy illness.   Survivors include a nephew, Emlin Gruenerfeldt of Montana; 12 grandnieces and grandnephews; and a sister-in-law and her husband, Marion and James Poulosky of Sioux City.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Walter;
and three sisters, Madeline, Alma and Mabel.

So, this would be Marion's first husband:

WALTER BOLLINGER
535-16-9537 April 7, 1897 - June 1, 1976 79 years IA 51103 (Sioux City, Woodbury County)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Alfred Andersen was single when he registered for the draft 5 June 1917, so he married Marie between then and Marion's birth.

Alfred's and Marie's deaths are not in the Social Security index so they either died before the index was started in 1960s or never registered for Social Security.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is probably Marie's second husband with a first wife and child:

1920 Willow, Woodbury County, Iowa
George A Eichhorn 26 Iowa, Farmer
Caroline Eichhorn 30 Iowa
Earl E Eichhorn 4-7/12 Iowa

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Alfred Andersen arrived New York from Copenhagen 4 April 1912 on the S. S. United States.  His last residence is listed as Vestbjerg, Sulsted and his destination Newell, Iowa.

Fantastic work Homer! There is no doubt you have found the family! It all fits together perfectly - including the fact that the names of Marie Andersen's parents (per the 1925 Iowa state census) match those that Merete gives us.

The only connection I don't see is George - there are so many Eichhorn brothers and cousins in Iowa - how can you tell George was Marie's second husband?

I said "probably" because he had middle initial A as on the airline list, and was a farmer in Woodbury County near Sioux City.

The only other George Eichhorn of appropriate age had middle initial E and lived in Poweshiek County, east of Des Moines.

To fill out the obit for Arthur Bollinger (posted above) - verifies that Walter Bollinger's parents were Victor Bollinger and Minnie Marbet (as can be found in the census):

Mr. Bollinger was born June 3, 1913, in Plymouth County Iowa the son of Victor and Minnie (Marbet) Bollinger. He graduated from Hinton High School. He farmed in the Plymouth County area, raising cattle and Belgian horses....
