Lauritzen (Lauritsen) Damm ? where did the Damm come from

I have been doing my family tree and have received very useful info tracing my family a bit further than I could get on my own.

The name Damm in the surname just seems to appear but I don't know how and why!

4th G/Grandfather - Lauritz Neilssen 1731-1786
3rd G/Grandfather - Lauritz Hansen and the Damm added?
2nd G/Grandfather - Hans Lauritzen also has the Damm added
and the Damm has been taken down the line to me.

I haven't seen where there has been a marriage connection and would like to know the how and why!

Where did you find info about Lauritz Nielssen 1731-1786?

In your other thread I found that his widow Bodil Kirstine Hansdatter remarried 24 Sep.1796.

Inger, I found Lauritz Nielsen and Bodild Nielsen Hansdatter noted down as legitimate parents of Lauritz Hansen, in Lauritz Hansen and Ellen Jorgensdatter Copulation Register 1802 (you sent through previously).
Also in the Denmark, Church Records 1763-1814 Vedsted Sogn (Haderslev Amt) Copulation Register 1776 has Lauritz Nielsen and Bodild Hansdatter married 26 Oct 1776. Bolild did marry after Nielsen's death.
With regards to Lauritz Nielsen birth and death dates - I got this from a DNA match family tree who has listed this, but as yet I haven't been able to verify this as yet.
