Hi

Four years ago I was looking fore my grandfathers brothers emigration to US without result.

Now I have got new and better informations about him, and will try again. The former information I had was that he lived in Copenhagen in 1886 and I think he emigrated i 1888.

But now I know that he lived in Copenhagen until new year 1895 and left Copenhagen 5. january 1895 and probably did emigrated at that time.

So - can anybodyhelp me with Jørgen Peter Poulsen ( born: 19-9-1853 in Sindbjerg - Council of Vejle). He emigrated to USA possible about 1895, and that I was told to the Chicago area. His last adress in Denmark was Copenhagen and his profession was a horse driver (kusk) He was not married and had no children.

I will be glad if somebody could help.

Kindly regards

Hej Christian,

I don't want you to think that we Danish-Americans have not been trying to find the immigration of Jørgen Peter Poulsen.  I have tried every way to find his arrival in the USA without success.  Sorry.

I have also searched, but find no record of him any spelling in the Copenhagen emigration registrations, ships passenger lists, or U.S. censuses.  What are the sources of your information?  Are there letters from Chicago or elsewhere in U.S.?  He would have been quite a bit older than most unmarried men who emigrated that era.

Hej

Paul I know you have done a lot to find J. P. Poulsen. As I still hope assistence it is bacause I have got new informations. When I found J. P. Poulsen - two weeks ago - in 1895 I can illuminate several suggestions between 1886 and 1895.

The last four years I have tried tio find him in Denmark. Now I have an address and try to follow up with further study in the "lægdsrulle"miltary papers.

To Homer: Unfortunately I have no papers or letters from US, but my grandfather has written that his brother and sisters left Denmark and emigrated to the states. All my cousins told that too. Further on my grandfather was alone when his mothers died and was paid, what she left because he could make clear for the authorities, that his last two sisters and brothers was abroad. That was in 1903.

So I am patient and still looking.

Hej Christian,

Can we have the information on the brothers and sisters.  If we can locate them perhaps it will lead us to J P Poulsen.

Hej Paul

I have maked a mistake. I write: "His last two sisters and brothers was abroad".

The right thing is: His last sister and brother was abroad. We are talking about two persons and not four. Sorry

These two persons are J. P. Poulsen and Ane Kirstine Poulsen. See: http://www.maglekilde.dk/slaegtshistorie/efterlysninger.html
