Would someone please advise me of the beginnings of fire insurance in Denmark or direct me to a website (in Danish or English).  Was it started as a result of the fires in København in the 1700s?
Thanks.

From the Danish Wikipedia (http://da.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kjøbenhavns_Brandforsikring)

Kjøbenhavns Brandforsikring was the first Danish insurance company. It was founded 26 January 1731, three years after the Copenhagen Fire of 1728. Before this violent event which destroyed about 28% of the city's buildings, it was not possible to insure against fire or other damage, but after the fire, a number of city residents saw the need to insure. The first fire insurance policy was subscribed 21 December 1731 by the Privy Counselor Otto Blome for his property at Amagertorv 4. Kjøbenhavns Brandforsikring is one of the predecessors of today's Tryg.
