Multiple spellings of Name

I am pretty sure that these are all the same person but I am wondering. Is it possible for the same individual to have all of the following spellings of their last name?

Anne Johanne Elisabeth Holmstrøm: Birth: 1729-1800 Aarhus Domsogn Hasle Aarhus img 557 pg 328 #Last entry on page

Anne Johanne Elisabeth Holmstrøm: 1st Marriage: 1817-1821 Aarhus Domsogn, Hasle, Aarhus img 210 pg 231-#169

Johanne Marie Elisabeth Jørgensen: 2nd Marriage, noted as a widow  from Aarhus-Folket in midten Vielsesdata Search on Ma% We% her 2nd spouse. I believe this is the use of her first married name. She is marrying Mathias Weis.

Ane Johanne Holmsland: 1840 Census http://www.danishfamilysearch.com/cid3536985

Ane Johane Haalmstøm: 1845 Census http://www.danishfamilysearch.com/cid4950287

Anne Johanne Elisab: Weis: Death: 1844-1851 Aarhus Domsogn Hasle Aarhus img 415 pg 479 #14 She died 18 Mar 1849. This is the use of her 2nd married name.

The 1850 Census has Mathias Weis divorced. http://www.danishfamilysearch.com/cid7950097, so they would have had to divorce sometime between the 1845 Census and her death in 1849

I do believe these are all the same person.

Are there any different thoughts???

Hi,

I looked at the original sheet in Census 1834 (image 11). I don't read the name as Holmstrup but as Holmstrong.

I think it is a matter of oral misinterpretation. The person recording the namn heard m as ng - nasal sounds are similar and could easily be mixed up.

I agree with you on this.

My father "ALVIN" was listed in one of the US Federal Census as "ELVIN" and a Female. So mistakes happen and add humor at times to genealogy searches.
