Please transcribe the following record for me. - Marriage of Ivar Christensen and Kirsten Jensdatter  08 Feb 1788  Thisted, Morsø Sønder, Vejerslev  opslag 26.

I have a question. Is there any way that I can be sure that this is the same Ivar Christensen and Kirsten Jensdatter that are listed in the Thisted, Refs, Ydby, Ydbye Bye  1801 Census or do I just assume that it is the same people because of the geographic proximity?

Thank You for all your help.

Hi,

One way to know if they are the same people is the date of vaccination.

In the marriage record it often states the vaccination date for both people.
And the same date should be in the birth/christening record.

Paul---

You can also check the information given in their Confirmation entries....This normally occurred some 12 to 16 years after their Birth/Baptism, generally their vaccination dates are given..
Research Areas: Thisted, Aarhus, Viborg

Hi Paul,

I think you have to identify the witnesses at the baptisms of Iver's and Kirsten's children to see,
if this couple could be the same that was married in Vejerslev in 1788:

Thisted, Refs, Ydby, Ydbye Bye, ingen, 8, FT-1801, B4252
Name:    Age:    Marital status:      Position in household:      Occupation:
Iver Christensen    30    Gift    Hosbonde    Gaardmand
Kirsten Jensdatter    38    Gift    Konen
Dorethe -    8    Ugift    deres barn
Anne -    5    Ugift    deres barn
Christen -    3    Ugift    deres barn
Mariane -    1    Ugift    deres barn
Lars Madsen    38    Ugift    Tjenestefolk
Kirstine Gregersdatter    30    Ugift    Tjenestefolk
Niels Nielsen    15    Ugift    Tjenestefolk

If Iver's age is somewhat correct in the census, he would have been a very young groom in 1788!
But this one could be a candidate:

Thisted, Morsø Sønder, Vejerslev, Vejerslev Bye, , 34, FT-1787, B2697
Name:    Age:    Marital status:      Position in household:      Occupation:
Jens Thoning    59    Gift    hosbonde    Sognepræst
Dorthe Marie Nandrup    49    Gift    madmoder
Poul Christian Thoring    11       deres søn
Anne Elsabeth Nandrup    50    Ugift    konens søster
Hendrich Jensen    43    Ugift    tjenestefolk
Jens Christensen    37    Ugift    tjenestefolk
Ivar Christensen    18    Ugift    tjenestefolk
Niels Nielsen    14       tjenestefolk
Bodil Christensdatter    30    Ugift    tjenestefolk
Mette Nielsdatter    24    Ugift    tjenestefolk
Karen Christensdatter    32    Ugift    tjenestefolk

NB: Vaccination wasn't introduced in Denmark until about 1810. Min. age for confirmation was 14 years.

Thank you for the transcription.

I found a record of the birth/christening of an Iver Christensen 14 Oct 1770  Ringøbing, Hind, Velling 1668-1801  Opslag 182 (middle right column). The date matches the 1801 census date of his birth 1771.  Velling is not close to Ydby and Vejerslev so, would it be reasonable to assume that it is the same Iver Christensen in the Ydby 1801 census?
