I need help reading/understanding the birth record on Vejstrup 1831-1867 opslag 124 (bottom) and 125 (top) #20 and 21.

I understand that it is recording the birth of twins (1 girl and 1 boy) but does it also speak about their death?

I ask because about 1 year later another boy (Peter Christensen Klinge) is born to this same family and given the same name (Vejstrup 1831-1867 opslag 132 #23).

Can anybody help me understand these entries?

Thanks,
Kelli Wiuff

Peter Christensen Klinge died 5 July 1858, age 1 day (opslag 500 #11).  It was the custom when a child died to give their name to the next child of same sex born.

Many thanks.

I thank you for the explanation and the help in finding his death record.  I also thank you for showing me that the record has many sections and that I need to search both to put the pieces together.

Normally you will find births listed first, then confirmations, marriages, and deaths in that order.  Once in awhile there will be an index of sections on opslag 1 or 2.  Most parishes listed males first and then females in each section, but some didn't separate them.

Many thanks for that information.  I am just beginning my hunt and this forum is very helpful in that regard.
