Is it possible to find what schools were around Kristrup Church in the late 1800's- my grandfather was confirmed out of this Church and school would be in the late 1880's to early 1890's.
Thank you for your help.

There has been only one school in the parish, which until 1970 was an independent parish municipality. According to Trap: Danmark, 4th edition, 1925, Volume VI, page 548, the school was built in 1898 and enlarged 1924-25. The old schoolhouse was one of King Frederik the 4th 's "Rytterskoler".

The Rytterskoler (English: Rider schools or Cavalry schools) were 241 schools erected in Denmark in the years 1722-1727 for the education of the peasentry children. The schools were located in the 12 Cavalry districts erected in 1715-1718 during the Great Nordic War to reform and improve the Cavalry in Denmark. http://www.thorshoj.dk/RYTTERSKOLERNE.HTM

Hi Kathleen ;).

I think you might want to see a picture of the old school in Kristrup Randers. It is now, and has been for the past 50 years, a public library.
