I would like a translation of the church marriage record for Ole Nilsen and Dorthe Christensdatter. Married 1786 in Sorø, Øster Flakkenbjerg, Herlufsholm, opslag 161. I am particularly interested in finding out any listed parent's names.

Hi Paul,

Not a translation - this time - but a census, if you don't have it:

soroe, Øster Flakkebjerg, Herlufsholm, Ladby, , , 114, FT-1787
Name: Age: Marital status: Occupation in household: Occupation: Birth place:
Ole Nilson 37  Gift huusbond inderste (smallholder without land), landsoldat  (soldier)
Dorthe Christensdatter 26  Gift madmoder (housewife)

The full text of Sorø/Ø.Flakkebjerg/Herlufsholm 1768-1814/161 reads:
"Trolovede:
D:9 Martii blev U:K: Ole Nilson tjenende Per
Christensen i Ladbye trolovet med P: Dorthe Christens
Datter sammestæds, og at intet efter Loven
deres Ægteskab til Hinder, lover for hannem
Grdm: Per Christens: og for hende Mads Christens:
Begge Gaarmænd i Ladbye.
(signed) P.C.S.     M:C:S "
(on the margin:
"Ægte
viede
Dom: 5p
pasch:")

Translation:
Betrothals:
On the 9th of March was betrothed the bachelor Ole Nilson serving Per
Christensen in Ladby to the maid Dorthe Christens
Datter ibidem, and that nothing according to the law
(may) hinder their marriage, (is) guaranteed on his behalf (by)
Farmer Per Christensen and on hers (by) Mads Christensen
Both farmers in Ladby.
("Married 5th Sunday after Easter").

There is no mention of any family relations, parents or otherwise - but of course one or both of the sponsors may be brothers of Dorthe's.

Are you sure about 1786? - It looks to me as if it is March 1787..

Regards,
Poul Eriksen

In spite of the heading on the right hand page, it follows the note at the bottom of the previous page 'Ten couples married in 1786'.  So, March 1787, ahead of the census mid-year 1787.
