With reference to the 3 step-brothers of my grandfather Lars Philip West, that went to America.
I have succesfully managed to find the ships in which Viga Romer and Herman Romer travelled.

I did see that one but Place of Origin  being America left some doubt.
However I will accept it with a ? in case something else turns up.
My grandfather was a Mariner so maybe the stepbrothers were at times as well which would incicate travels before settling as farms or whatever other skills they had.

There was talk of some one in the family being in ship building which I also wonder if there are old records of shipbuilders etc., prior to 1887.

It works for me.  Perhaps you can try going to familysearch.org and then searching for "Kirstine Wefstdatter" and adding the mother's name "Kirstine Pedersdatter" under parents.  Then near the bottom of the page, you should see:
