Christian's death record does not list his burial place and residence as Niels' record did:

He and Niels both died in Madison County, Illinois for some reason, but Niels was buried in St Louis and Christian in Lebanon.

Madison County adjoins St Clair County; maybe they died in a hospital there.

While i was reading the probate for the parents i found out they had a halfsister Anna Kirstine Hansen married to Hans Hansen Sioux Fall, Montcalm County, Michigan - She is dead 19/4-1901 in Sioux Fall and she probably emigrated abt. 1881. Unitill now ske was unknown to me. They had 4 children. Can anyone help me finding them - and maybe her deathrecord.

Is the entry a mistake or did they change her name?

Mern 1879-1891 opslag 35 no. 10, Maren Kirstine Hansen born 9 Sept 1880,
parents Hans Hansen and Ane Kirstine Hansen 30
(same parents as Hans C. born 1876)

Also, in the 1900 census Ane Kirstine listed that she was mother of 9 children, but only 4 living:
Daughters Emma, Hannah, and Mary are listed with them and Line has found the son Hans C. so this would mean Anna (Maren?) born 1880 had died before 1900.

There must have been other children stillborn or who died young.

I have looked through the records  - and more informations indicates that Maren is the child related to the family. I Think they have changed the name or the person that have transcribed these informations have misread them - how to find out I don't know for now.

I Think maybe some of the kids are dead - but i havent looked in Census 1890 how many children they had then.

Here is one of those who died:

Maren Kirstine Hansen born 7 Oct 1877 - died 14 Feb 1878
(Mern 1859-1878, opslags 103 and 239)

So Maren Kirstine born Sept 1880 was named for her, and they must have changed her name to Ane at time of emigration.

The U.S. censuses were taken in June or later, and the 1900 census of the "Hance Hancen" family was taken 22 June.

The 1900 census that Line listed for a Christene Hansen born July 1880 was taken June 29th, so she was a different person.  There were many Hansen's in Montcalm County.

They had emigrated and would not be in the 1890 Danish census, and the 1890 U.S. census was destroyed.

Thanks for listing the dates of Census - and the informations abt Census 1890 US. I am aware that they not are in Denmark 1890.
Also the information abt. 1900 Census with is valuable informations.
I Know there are lots og Hansen in Michigan . and maybe allover America - so we have to be very careful. I have written a frien in Michigan if he knows if anyone have relation to this family - he is self a Hansen - and very proud of his danish heritage.

In Denmark the next child was named as the dead one when the newborn had same gender.
