Johanne Kirstine Hansen death

I have had pretty good luck finding other death records in this branch of my family tree, but I have had no luck finding anything for her.

Johanne Kirstine Hansdatter/Hansen was born 19 Dec 1815 in Fuglsbølle parish, Svendborg Amt.

She married Thomas Nielsen 21 Nov 1846 in Fuglsbølle parish (#7).

In the 1860 and 1870 censuses they are living in Østerby in Fuglsbølle parish.

Thomas Nielsen died 16 Jul 1879 in Fuglsbølle parish (#3).

The last place I find Johanne is in the 1880 census living as a widow with her daughter and son-in-law in  Fuglsbølle By and parish.

Inger, thanks for finding that 1890 census and the relocation to Svendborg Kobstad.  I looked at the church records for a couple of the churches near Søgaardsvejen and so far have only found one possible entry, a Johanne Nielsen of the right age in the Sankt Nikolaj records.

You are spot on, Art. The husband's title of 'bødker' ( cooper ) also shows in the census 1860, see attachment. And late in the nineteenth century it had become customary to use the husband's surname rather than a wife's original patronym.

There can be different information contained in the 2 copies of the church books, so I checked for Johanne's death in the hovedministerialbog, but found nothing additional.  I agree she is the ancestor you were looking for.

Thanks to all for your time and expertise!  I am now very comfortable with the Johanne Nielsen that died in Skt Nicolaj parish being the Johanne Kirstine Hansdatter/Hansen that I have been researching.  It feels good to finally close that "chapter".
