Jens Christiansen aka Jens Christiansen Jensen - Frederikshavn, Hjorring

Hello:
My grandfather Jens Christiansen/aka Jens Christiansen Jensen was born December 29, 1877 to Anine Jensen and Mikkal Christiansen in Randers.  Before he emigrated - it appeared that around 1897 he lived in Frederikshavn, hjorring - his occupation was listed as Maskinist. (?)  I would like to know if someone could look and see what his address was there and and other information that maybe listed.  Thank you

Would your grandfather be the Jens Christian Jensen shown in the 1880 census attached? If so, his grandmother would hail from Hjørring county.

Actually the census 1880 correctly gives Jens Jensen's middle name as Christiansen. The corruption to Christian owes to the digitalisation process carried out by Dansk Demografisk Database, see original entry here:

Likewise the grandmother Sara Marie's maiden name has been corrupted from Hesselberg to Vesselberg.

The 1834 census - if digitalised ok for Skt. Hans parish in Vennebjerg, Hjørring - shows the great-grandparents of Jens Christiansen Jensen as Morten Hesselberg and Ane Kirstine Knudsdatter, see attachment.

I suppose the 1890 census won't be of much use in this case. The next census was in 1901.

But he was in Frederikshavn (Lægd 470)  in 1895, when he was entered into the military levying roll:

The great-great-grandparents of Jens Christiansen Jensen show up in the 1801 census as Søren Hesselberg born 1731-32 and Mette Nielsdatter born 1742-43, cf. attachment.

To be more specific: His whereabouts were unknown to the military authorities in 1900, 1901 an 1902,
when he was supposed to do his military service.

The conscription roll proves that he was in Frederikshavn in 1895 and showed up for the draft board.

Was he a crew member or passenger at the time of his emigration?

Thank you for your help.  By 1900 my grandfather was in Pennsylvania then onto San Francisco until he died in 1958.His family was still in Randers then they moved to Aalborg where they continued to operate a butcher shop.  Again - thank you very much for your help.

Yes - that is his grandmother.  His biological father was Mikkail Christian Christiansen.  Unfortunately could never find out any info on him.
