Will you help search for Skifteprotokoller for Johan Hendriksen, who was buried 16 Jun 1793 in Rønnebæk?  His burial record can be found at https://www.sa.dk/ao-soegesider/en/billedviser?epid=17117975#155223,25927695.  I believe I've found the pages where the record would most likely be found, but I lack the reading skills:  https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3QS7-893H-W3D2  Any help would be appreciated.

The probate for his wife, Ane Marie Larsdatter, who died later can be found at http://ao.salldata.dk/vis1.php?side=171&bsid=130343.  Does this mean that a skifteprotokoller doesn't exist for him?  He doesn't have a separate entry in the index:  http://ao.salldata.dk/vis1.php?bsid=130348&side=2.  The record indexed there is for his wife.

Since Johan Hendriksen died in 1793 and Ane Marie Larsdatter died in 1795 it is very likely she lived in "uskiftet bo" (undivided estate/property) between 1793-1795.
So no probate after Johan Hendriksen is normal, if this is casel

Thanks for the education Niels.  I didn't realize before this that there would be only one probate record for the couple.  What happens after the husband's death if the wife remarries?  Is the Skifteprotokoller still delayed until her death?

Hi Kerry.

That is actually a very good question! I'm not a lawyer, so I can only give a guess.

I think "normally" it will be delayed until her death if she stays. Yet for instance it was very common for a widow to stay at the "Fæste"-farm, by marrying a young man directly, who could take over the "fæste" -> then the husband would have a Skifte.
In the case above Ane Marie Larsdatter apparently didn't remarry, so no Skifte after her deceased husband in 1793.

If the farm was self-owned (not "fæste" where you rent it from a nobleman) then the wife - I would think -  only lives in "uskiftet bo", so long as she stays put unmarried to her death.
If she remarries then I presume the inheritance has to be divided?!

Cheers
Niels
