Hello,

I have the marriage record for my Hans Hansen and Anna Olsdatter and I think it says she is from Bogense but I cannot decipher the record.

Marriage here on the right 10 Jun 1782 in Snave, Stubberup, Bjerge, Odense, Denmark: https://www.sa.dk/ao-soegesider/en/billedviser?epid=17138451#181312,30782643

Is anyone able to translate the record for me?

Grethe Leerbech

My answer.

Ungkarl Hans Hansen fæster i Snave og Pige Anne Olsdatter paa Bogense,
forlovere: Morten Olsen paa Bogense og Niels Jensen paa Lang.

Bachelor H.H. copyholder in Snave and girl A.O. from Bogense. Best men Morten Olsen (brother!) from Bogense and Niels Jensen from Lang

It's funny the priest writes "paa Bogense = at Bogense and not from Bogense or in Bogense because at Bogense, sounds as if Bogense was a mannor.

Betrothal is 10 Jun. 1782, marriage 4 Nov. 1782.

Bogense is probably Bogensø in Stubberup parish. Lang could be Langø.

Its not funny at all. "on Bogense" is according to a map in Trap 1956.page 308, at Hindsgavl, and not the city Bogense in the northern Fyn or the other Bogense /Bovense in Eastern Fyn.
Hans Hansen and Ane Olesdatter is in my my familytree.

Thank you Grethe.  I wonder about Morten Olsen being her brother though.  The only one I could find in Bogensø was born around 1731 and I do not see "bror" in the entry?

Hi Karen.  So does that mean the Bogense mentioned in the betrothal and marriage record is in the Hindsgavl in Kavslunde, Vends and not Bogensø in Stubberup, Bjerge?

I am related to Niels Nielsen the twin born 11 Nov 1857 in Hersnap, Dalby, Bjerge, Odense, Denmark.  He married my 3rd great aunt Anna Kirstine Andersdatter born 23 Apr 1850 in Flødstrup, Vindinge, Svendborg, Denmark.

Inger came first while I whrote my answer. Bogense in Stubberup, Bjerge is the right place.
Hans Hansens and Ane Olesdatters son Ole Hansen is my great great grandfather.

Must be a typo for Hindsholm.

Bogensø is #10 and Langø #9 on this map: http://www.hindsholm.com/Hindsholm_fiskepladser.htm

Hi Karen,

Is there an online family tree that you know of that goes beyond Hans Hansen and Anna Olsdatter?

Karen Margrethe Schmidt

Hi Rebecca

I have no list beyond Hans Hansen, he is a tenant under Hverringe gods. Anna Olesdatter is tha daugther of Ole Jensen and Anna Larsdaughter who is mention on this site: http://www.impoulsen.dk/laurs_rasmussen.htm  be ware of the names there are multiple Anne/Anna Olesdatter/Olsdatter and Hans Hansen.

I know Hans Hansen had 2 brothers Mads Hansen farmer in Viby, and Niels Hansen in Mesinge.

You may send my a personal message for more info.
