Dear people

I have a little problem here; in Reykjavík 1801, there is a assistant with Johannes Erland Boje factor, which name was Peder Nielsen Gautske b. ca 1769 [Census 1801, 32aar], he married 11. jan 1801 to Þrúður Dagsdóttur b.ca. 1786 who was later accused of poisining, and sent to Kobenhavn prison.
He dies in Reykjavík 26. may 1803.

All Icelandic references say he was Danish; but where from ?

The name is spelled in warious ways, these in Icelandic resources: Giodske, Gotsi, Gautske.

Venlig hilsen

If he is Danish, then Godske would be a good spelling. Gautske looks very Norwegian.
