Hello,

I have two Søren Christensen Winter's born to Christen Sørensen Winter and Anna Sørensdatter. very close together

Christen Sørensen Winter was born 25 Jul 1773 in Balle, Hids, Viborg, Denmark and he died 20 Dec 1825 age 52 in Balle, Hids, Viborg, Denmark.  He is the son of Søren Poulsen and Maren Christensdatter.

Anna Sørensdatter was born about 1778 probably in Balle, Hids, Viborg, Denmark and died 29 May 1836 in Balle, Hids, Viborg, Denmark.  They married 18 Feb 1804 in Balle.  She is the daughter of Søren Jensen Bechmann and Anna Rasmusdatter.

Together they had two Søren Christensen Winter:

Søren Christensen Winter #1 was born 29 Jan 1805 in Øster Bording, Balle, Hids, Viborg, Denmark and died age 78 1/2 in Lemming, Hids, Viborg.  This Søren appears to have been married to Ellen Michelsdatter (her name is wrong on the 1834 Census as Nielsdatter).

I can trace this family all the way up to the 1880 Denmark Census.  The 1834 Census actually gives his birth and the 1840 Census makes a comment that he is "(Winther)" so I feel pretty confident that this is the Søren who married Ellen Michelsdatter.

Søren Christensen Winter #2 was born 12 Aug 1806 in Øster Bording, Balle, Hids, Viborg, Denmark.  This Søren I cannot seem to find in the 1834 Census to even begin to know if he married, where he lived and when and where he died.  It makes sense that if this Søren was born after the 1st one that he should be alive somewhere especially since it does not appear that Søren #1 died until 1883.

Søren birth #5 here: https://www.sa.dk/ao-soegesider/en/billedviser?epid=17121592#159989,26896535

I want to be sure that Søren #1 married Ellen Michelsdatter and not Søren #2.

Oh, thank you Lisa!  How did you know from his military record in Viborg that he went to Randers.  I see that he is there in Randers but I do not see the codes that say he left in the first place.

ETA: Also, why would I not see Søren #1 on the military rolls?

#3
the 1831 one from Viborg says Til Randers 81 J614, which means he went to Randers amt lægd 81 and his new number there was J614.

the 1834 one from Randers says f. Viborg 145_19, which means from Viborg amt lægd 145, #19.

At least that I can read.   ;D

Søren #1 is there in 1831 Viborg lægd 145, #14.  He is probably still there in 1834...I didn't look.

here he is in 1845, #1, made it to the top of the list, https://www.sa.dk/ao-soegesider/da/billedviser?epid=16481031#18483,1107483

Ah, I was looking at Søren #1 not Søren #2's record which is why I could not see that.  cool)
