Who is the father of Hjære Hansen

Hello,

My Hjære Hansen was born around 1770-1775 and I initially had him as the son of Hans Hjæresen and Marie Hansdatter but now that I have found his death record I think he might be the son of Hans Hansen (dies before 1801) and Mette Andersdatter.

Hjære Hansen dies at the age of 81 1/4 on 14 Sep 1850 in Nyløkkegård, Ejlskov, Hårslev, Skovby, Odense, Denmark giving him a birth around Jun or Jul 1769-1770.

Hjære Hansen marries Maren Cathrine Frederiksdatter 1 Aug 1801 in Hårslev, Skovby, Odense, Denmark. The marriage indicates that he is from Nyløkkegård and she is from Ågård Mølle.

This record seems to indicate that he is from Ejlskov?

The daughter who I trace through is Mette Kirstine Hjæresdatter born 9 Dec 1802 in Nyløkkegård, Ejlskov, Hårslev, Skovby, Odense, Denmark. By 1834 she is married and living with her husband, Jesper Andersen, and their children in Ejlskov, Hårslev, Skovby, Odense, Denmark.

The record is not very long but I do not see Hjære Hansen mentioned, only his brother Peder Hansen (born 12 Feb 1794 in Gamby, Hårslev, Skovby, Odense, Denmark).

Because the 1787 and 1801 Census both seem to confirm my information, that the father of Hjære Hansen is Hans Hjæresen and Marie Hansdatter, I am wondering if it is possible that the parish recorder wrote down the wrong father in both records? This does not seem plausible. If it were just one record then I could believe there was a mistake but not two records several years apart. I cannot think that 1769 Hjære is my Hjære because I do not have a brother Peder for him.

I have all the birth, marriage, probate, census and death records for all of the children of Hjære Hansen and Maren Cathrine Frederiksdatter. I have not yet searched military records.

Any help sorting this out is greatly appreciated.

Thank you for finding those Britta. I wonder if #216 age 38 Hans Hansen is the son from the 1st marriage of Hans Hansen to Rebecca Hansdatter. The only thing that makes me pause is the age because it looks like Hans Hansen junior is 38 in 1780 when his father dies so maybe it is not him.

Thank you Inger. I think this must be him. He is living with Jesper Hjæresen (born 1752 in Gamby, Hårslev, Skovby, Odense, Denmark - dies 1825 in Asperup, Vends, Odense, Denmark) who is mentioned in the probate record of Hans Hansen in 1780 and I am still trying to figure out if they are related. I am thinking they must be simply because the patronymic is not common.

Jesper Hjæresen is the son of Hjære Hansen (1701-1767) and Maren Rasmusdatter (1714-1776). This Hjære Hansen is the son of Hans Hjæresen (1665-1742) and Maren Christensdatter (1673-1752). They have a son Hans Hansen but he is born 21 Jun 1714 in Bro, Brenderup, Vends, Odense, Denmark, a twin to Anders Hansen, and dies there in Nov 1740.
