Regarding the 1882 confirmation record of Rasmus Nielsen, https://www.ancestry.com/sharing/17935982?h=299adf or https://www.sa.dk/ao-soegesider/en/billedviser?bsid=383043#383043,74038778 (#3), what is the location of his birth or residence (?abjerg)?  For his father, it says Indsidder (=lodger).  What is the connotation for using that word?  Is this an indication that Peder is alive?  In the 1870 census, two years after Rasmus' birth, Peder is not found with his wife, Christiane Hansine Christine Christiansen, and family.  I assumed this was because he was deceased, but does the census say that she is still married, not widowed?

Were separations recorded in some manner around 1870?  The 1880 census, https://www.danishfamilysearch.com/cid9898371, does record her as being a widow even thought Peder is listed in the confirmation record two years later.

Hey Kerry
An indsidder or lodger is a man who rent his house and land. Sometimes he has only an appartment in a larger farm or a small house on a larger farms land . You could say he is a kind of small-holder.
In 1870 Christiane is married not a widow, maybe her husband is in hospital at least he is away, but where is not mentioned.
At the confirmation it is normal to tell whom the childs father is, even if he is dead. The priest writes his fathers name not the mothers (widows).
