Hej, may I please have help translating the last part of the entry for Hans Jensen on 2 Jul 1827, age 29, arbejdsmand, to København, fra ???

I have found a possible matching man in the 1826 hovedrulle.   Do you think this is the same man?    The dates don't seem to match but I can't understand much of it.

I think he is the same as in the levying roll - he can be followed in the rolls from 1798

In 1826 is told among other things, that he became a soldier Sept.18, 1820 in 1. Life Guard Regiment,
had a passport (permission to move) dat. Oct.25, 1825 to København -
finally in 1829 dismissed as unfit for service caused by intestinal hernia.

Still in the roll in Tostrup he seems to have returned from København.

Thank you Ole.   Hans Jensen is named as the father of Sidse Hansdatter born 1825 in Store Tåstrup, mother Ellen Jensdatter.   Hans was from Merløsegaard.

There are several possible Hans Jensens found in baptism/confirmation/census/lægdsruller for Store Tåstrup, most I have ruled out, and I think this man is the most likely.   There are only a few in the lægdsruller around 1824.   

Sidse's confirmation in 1840 indicates her parents were not married.

His father was Jens Pedersen as you say, born 1761 Kundby, died 1799 Store Tåstrup, father: Peder Pedersen, and mother was Inger Larsdatter, who married again to Ole Hansen after her husband's death. 

That is most likely him in the census records!  I have seen him before but the obvious clue 'Thostrup' had not clicked in my brain. 

In the case of 'separated man' - do you think he would be called that if he had been in a relationship with Ellen, but not married to her?

Ellen married in 1836 to another man from Merløsegaard, Carsten Hansen.

Yes, HJ's father Jens Pedersen had hanged himself on the ceiling in 1799, mentally depressed.

Passport renewed 17 April 1824 - passport not renewed 1825, so he gets a fine of 5 rd.

'Separated man' - well, sounds like he had got married somewhere, maybe during his stays in København?
At Sidse's baptism in 1825 HJ is mentioned only 'avlskarl' (head) farm hand at Merløse Gaard - not as a bachelor

The censuses 1840-50 only say, that he was married, not if he had been married before.

I'll see if I can find another marriage for him and the one to Anna Mathilde Riise.  What is the need for a sponsor (Lars Jensen)?   In Sidse's confirmation he is a 'karlen'.

This looks like his marriage to Anna Mathilde Riise, recorded as Anne Mathea Elefsdatter.   He had a brother Lars, which may be the L. Jensen mentioned here.

At HJ's confirmation the parents are
Karlen (the farm hand) Hans Jensen og Moderen Ellen Jensdatter af Søetofte.

Anna Mathilde/Anne Mathea's father was prob. Elef Riise - a very Norwegian name.
Yes, Lars Jensen could very well be HJ's older brother.

I think that Lars Jensen, the sponsor, was a much older man who was a gaardmand in Merløse.     He died 1832, age 61, and his wife was Ellen, which might explain why HJ named a daughter Ellen - not because Sidse's mother was called Ellen!   But the bestman must be his brother.   

I haven't found an earlier marriage for HJ yet, definitely not in Store Tåstrup, but looking on FamilySearch there are so many around that area it will take some time to go through them all, and possibly it was in København.   There is one in Stenmagle that has a Hans Jensen from Tostrup, but he is another Hans Jensen I have already checked out.
