I have a copy of a letter that was sent to my Great grandmother in NZ. It
was sent by one of her sisters still living in Copenhagen. The letter
mentions various members of the family in Denmark and I am having trouble
trying to identify them. It would be really nice to make contact with any
remaining family in Copenhagen or Denmark.
My great grandmother was Camilla Frederikke Hansine (nee Hansen) bn 1858,
married to Charles Alfred von Meyern in New Zealand.
Her two sisters were: Norma Andrea Christiane Hansen born 2 Dec 1853 (Holms
Sogn, Copenhagen) and Dagmar Eugenie Petrea Hansen born 5 Nov 1856 (Trinity,
Copenhagen). Their parents were Hans Christian Hansen (bn 23 July 1823
Copenhagen) and Karen Petra Nielsen ( bn 17 Feb 1826 Norway)
Going back another generation Hans¹ parents were Hans Peter Hansen bn 1797
and Christine Christensen bn 1796 .
Their children were all born Copenhagen:
Hans Christian Hansen 1823 (above)
Emilie Christine Hansen 1827
Frederik Wilhelm Hansen 1829
Trineke Margrethe Hansen 1831
Peter Ferdinand Hansen 1835
Mariane Hansine Hansen 1838
The letter mentions Aunt Louise, Auntie Jane, Auntie Marie (possibly
Mariane) , Auntie Trine (possibly Trineke) whose daughter was Rebekka, and
Karl (living in Brooklyn). I think the letter was written in the early
1900s. I wondered if Louise and Jane were wives to Frederik and Peter but I
have no knowledge of this.
I would be grateful for any help in this matter.
Kind regards
Bev Russell, Perth, West Australia

Hi Bev,

Apparently the Dagmar you referenced died and this is the birth of the second Dagmar.  https://www.sa.dk/ao-soegesider/billedviser?bsid=205703#205703,39037502

And here is the family in the 1870 census.  I cannot make out Johanne's full name.  Perhaps a kind Dane can read it.   https://www.sa.dk/ao-soegesider/da/billedviser?bsid=10146#10146,245813

The two extra daughters in the 1885 census and Dagmar Eugenie Hansen are not from your family.  They are a different family.

Sincerely,
Paul

Hi Bev,

The Johanne Didrikke Augusta listed in the 1860 census can be found here.  https://www.sa.dk/ao-soegesider/da/billedviser?epid=17119267#157770,26481085

Apparently Karen Petrea Nielsen had an affair with Johan August Meyer before she married Hans Christian Hansen.

Even though you haven't replied to my previous posts here is more information on your ancestors.  Hans Peter Hansen's wife was not Christine Christensen but Christine Iversen (probably born Christine Iversdatter).  Here is the family in the 1845 census.
