Hej,

I need your help with Karen Larsdatter's burial record.

Pedersker Sogn Kirkebog, 11 May 1813

This is what I have so far.  Please fill in the missing words [perhaps Latin]

11 Maii           Tiirs Dag
7)  Sepulta    Karen Lars Datter   _____?_____
                        gl [gammel] 46 Aar.

11 May              Tuesday
7) Burial            Karen Larsdatter
                        age 46 Years.

I have attached an image of the record.

This is tricky.  One of the missing words is Greek: αuτοχειρια.  My take is (by) own hand.

The other I read as NB (nota bene, note well) viedxx, married, although most married women are here primarily identified by their husband.

Edit:  From your other inquiries I see she was married.  Was she perhaps a widow at her death?

Hej,
the text says:
αuτοχειρια. NB vildese (vildelse)
Suicide. NB she was delirious

It was important that she was out of her mind when she killed herself. Otherwise she could not be buried in consecrated ground.

Hej,

Thanks to you both for you insight. I thought this entry was more challenging than most.

Yes Ralph, she was proceeded by the death of three husbands, each at a young age.

Most of my ancestors on Bornholm had multiple spouses due to death.  Premature death in children as well as adults was a very common tragedy.  It is a very sad part of doing genealogy research.

With appreciation,

David
