I have been able to follow and document the major events in his life except his birth/baptism. I have looked at the 1742-1813 Balle-Gødvad, Hids, Viborg parish register and have located no entry for his birth.
Any suggestions/help?

This is the parish record in which events before 1790 are copied or reconstructed from partial previous bits. And there possibly was a usable book for Balle, in such a way that folio 117-134b refers only to Gødvad.
An open question is what sort of confirmation record there was or is from 1790 forward to 1813/1814.
Thanks Ralph---what I take from your comments and the respective parish register is that there may not be records for Balle during that time period. Confirmations are not included in this register and do not appear to begin until 1814 to late to cover his confirmation.
