Why would the do a christening in the middle of the week? What would be the circumstances surrounding that?
Think midweek lenten services. More and better attended services came with the 'awakening' if the pastor and parishoners were on the same page.
Now if the pastor was a product of the enlightenment, there could be meetings in homes that were frowned on by the church, and of course devoid of any church rites.
