I have traced my 3 great grandfather (Søren Hansen b. 1742) to a Danish website for a Ploug Family. The sources are "Svanninge Folkenmindesamling," Mette M. Hansen & "Ploug-slaegten.dk"
Are those sources referring to books?
Ploug-slaegten is an index.
Secondly after occupation it reads: Gårdfæster, "Oldtidsminde."
What does that mean?
Thanks, Rog Nelson
Folkeminde = Folklore/popular traditions
Samling = collection
Svanninge Folkemindesamling is a local historic archive for Svanninge, Millinge, Østerby, Faldsled and a part of Faaborg. www.faldsled-millinge-svanninge.dk/kultur - mailaddres svanninge.arkiv@gmail.com
Gårdfæster = copyholder of a farm
Oldtidsminde = relic of antiguities - could be a buriel mound or barrow, now used as a place name, a locality
Inge,
Thank you for your help.
