However, his confession seems a little off...
in 1818 he married Maren Christensdatter and in 1829 had an affair with Anne Cathrine Pedersdatter, which resulted in my 3rd Great Grandmother and to the divorce from Maren Christensdatter.
While divorced he had an affair (and according to his confession, his first, but then, is it "adultery" if one is divorced and not married?) with Inger Marie Jensdatter resulting in a son Jens Pedersen.
He then married Marthe Kirstine Jensdatter in 1837 who died in 1847 and he married again in 1848 to Ane Marie Jensdatter.
Based on my tracking of his life, his confession leads to questioning his truthfulness.... ??? ???
Another question that goes along with this---that question is:
Are divorces documented any where online? If so, where?
The record leaves open whether it is the mother's first misadventure.

Are you saying that the statement pertains to the women and not the man?
I can see that, in as much as I have tracked her in every Census until her death, which leads me to another question which I'll start in another thread.
In my experience, the count of encounters is those of the mother, except when it is an account of public discipline (absolution) of the man.
