Which part of Denmark.
In many parts of the country farms were called full farm, half farm ot quarter farm depending on their size.
A full farm were often a rather big farm, a half farm or a quarter farm were quit common.
The tennancy and other obligations to the landlord depended on the size of the farm.
The Halvgaardsmand was in Borup, Vraa sogn, Børglum, Hjørring amt.
An other source mention that there were 5 halvgårde in Børglum each 2 tdr hartkorn.
That was still real farms but small farms. Having 3 to 5 cows a couple of horses and a few pigs and sheeps.
The would typically live a Family, a single farmhand and a single girl to help in the house and at the farm.
The biggest ordinary farms were 12 tdr hartkorn. There were smaler houses with small lots of land, but that was usually for people having other occupation beside farming.
Hartkorn is not an area unit but a unit for value of the farm. Since the soil in Børglum area Arent the very best the area might still have been quit large perhaps 60 to 80 acres.
Farms between 12 and 25 tdr hartkorn were called proprietærgaarde. They had some priviligies but not as many as the large estates.
In 1880 in the rural Denmark there were 1800 farms with more than 12 tdr hartkorn, 71000 between 1 and 12, 131000 houses wit small lots of land and 31000 houses without farmland.
