I occasionally have tried to find a record in Københavns Skifter.   Sometimes I have found what I was looking for, but more often not.  Would someone be able to give a brief explanation of the reference #'s found in the Navneregister Hovedregister and whether these records are available online, or only in the reading room?  And how to know which is which?

For instance, the most recent one that I've been searching for I can find her name in the (Københavns Skiftekommission indtil 1919) Navneregister Hovedregister 1888 on opslag 21 but haven't been able to locate the actual record.   The record is for Johanne Sophie Berg f. Stenstrom and the reference # after her name is 1/225 - which I would think would mean volume 1, page 225 or entry # 225 - but I can't seem to find it.    Am I missing something simple?  (Most likely case  ::))

I'd really appreciate any help you could give me,

Jo

Thanks Lis.

I thought that might be it, but thought I'd ask in case I was just missing something.

(...and in this instance I was trying to help someone else and hoping to find a birth date for Johanne Sofie and even more hoping to find the name of the parish where she was born in Sweden. Ah well.. The census records all say Goteborg so I'll continue to look in the Swedish records.)

Thanks again,

Jo
