Because of the help of all of you I have now received an e-mail from Svend Børge Yttesen's son. Now I am in contact with a 2nd cousin from the Smidt side of my family. It has taken me ten years to find a living Danish relative from the Smidt side of my family and now that dream has come true. Thanks to all who have helped me.

Hi,
I know this is about 8 years late but I just found your query via google today.
My dad served with Sven in the Danish coastal fortificatio during the 50's but my dad lost contact with him when my dad left the navy.
When my dad was dying in hospital in 1978 Sven suddenly turned up and as he had become a priest he ended up performing my dad's funeral service. We then kept in touch with him and he christned both my sons in 1992 and 1994. When my mother died in 1996 we wanted him to do her funeral but by then he was no longer well and did not feel up to it.
He and his wife attended bith christening parties.
From other of his officer colleauges I herd the story that he became priest because he had to report his superior officer for some crime and that blocked any further possibillity for advancement.
