Johann Peter Andresen Friis, his wife Marianna and 5 children emigrated to New Zealand in 1875.
I have considerable information about their lives here in New Zealand. Is there anyone interested in hearing their story? Is there a genealogy group collecting such stories?
I'd be happy to share.

Barbara

Thanks John - I hadn't found any yet. I've been searching for the deaths of Christen Andersen Friis and Anna Margrethe but not found them...yet.
The birth entry is very hard to decipher...but I think it does mention both parent's names - am I right?

I think death records are usually the hardest to locate. It would seem that both Christen Andersen Friis and Anna Margrethe died sometime between 1831 and 1845. I would search in Hostrup sogn first but they could have moved to a different parish.
I believe this is their daughter Ellen, listed as an orphan, in the 1845 census.

At the birth of Ellen in 1831, I think it says the father has abandoned the family (des weggelaufenen(?) Heuerinsten Christen Andresen Fries), or am I mistaken? In the 1845 census Ellen is a fosterchild.

Dear Barbara,
Since you are only noted as a User on this site - not a member, you are not able to see the section, where Family stories are uploaded for the members of this site to read. I think a lot of Danish users will be very interested in reading about the life of a Danish emigrant.
I do not know, if it is allowed, but I will be happy to publish your story about the Friis Family in the section mentioned. If no one disagree, you can just mail me the story by clicking the mail-icon.
Thanks Anne Marie. I will put the story together to send to you. I noticed many people have looked at this message which seems to imply there is an interest.
I am still on the trail of Christen Fries but will post another specific message about him.
Regards
Barbara
