Hi,
Could someone translate this 1815 marriage?
http://www.sa.dk/ao/SoegeSider/Kirkeboeger.aspx (http://www.sa.dk/ao/SoegeSider/Kirkeboeger.aspx)
Skt Petri Sogn, Sokkelund Herred, København Amt, Skt Petri 1813-1841
opslag 18.
It's the last one on the page, for Friederich Chrane.
Does it give the name of the bride's father?
Thank you!
Kind regards,
Sallie Hobbs

Hi Ralph,
Thank you very much!
Kind regards,

Sallie - I assume you have found this family descendants and are working backward in time? When I searched Ancestry etc. for this, the USA family kept coming up. Say if you want more about that.
Hi Jane,
Thank you for the offer. You are exactly right. I am working backwards from 1830, when my Chrane family went to the U.S. from Denmark. I do have lots of information on the family in the U.S., so right now I'm trying to focus on the Danish ancestors, and the period just after they arrived in the U.S., from 1830 to 1840.
Are you a Chrane descendant?
Best regards,
Sallie Hobbs
The 1801 census is a bit tricky, but the grooms father, a potter, certainly must be here in 1787.
kbhv, København (Staden), Rosenborg Kvarter, , Lille Brøndstræde No 161, 2, FT-1787, B5769

Friderich Schaltz 30 Gift Mand Maler ved Porcelain Fabriqven
Inger Marie Brochmand 20 Gift Hans Kone
Jonas Krane 19 Ugift Logerende Dreyer ved Porcel: Fabriquen
The groom in 1815 is a 'Porcelandreher' in German. He throws pots, and his father still does the same, living at ......... [street] number 22.
The father may be the Jonas Krane married at Vor Frue just after the 1787 census, February 9, 1787 (1775-1813, opslag 49) to Anna Ericsdatter. The hitch is that this Jonas Krane is nominally a journeyman mason.

Hi Ralph,
I think you are right, that we can safely connect the 1815 groom and his father Jonas Chrane the porcelandreher. It looks like the 1815 marriage record does say "Jonas Chrane"
And you are right that we don't know if the Feb 1787 groom is the same Jonas Krane who married Anna Ericsdatter. The journeyman mason occupation does not agree with what we know about Jonas in the 1787 census and the 1815 marriage of his son. So that would seem to indicate a different Jonas Krane married Anna Ericsdatter. Thank you for helping me arrive at this conclusion.
Ralph, are these records in German? Or Danish? Could you show the Danish/German words that you can make out in the 1815 marriage? I would like to learn the words.
Thank you very much for your work, and for being interested in working on this family.
Mvh

Hi Ralph,
All I can say is wow. Thank you!
I am really overwhelmed. Now we have just a little more insight into these people.
I'm glad you know German and Danish and gothic handwriting.
Thank you for sharing your talents.
Kind regards,
Sallie
Small oops. Jonas Kramer married in 1787 is a journeyman carpenter (timmermand vs. murer). It is less of leap from a wood turner to a clay turner than from the masons, the wall builders.

Ralph,
Thank you for finding the oops. :-)
Now that marriage goes back on the "possible" list.
