I have some records listing the parish as Sønderborg parish and others as Sønderborg Sct. Marie parish. The familysearch.com wiki lists two parishes, but gives very little information. AO for Sønderborg Amt only seems to list one parish (Sønderborg) with some indication that Sønderborg parish was associated with Sct. Marie Kirke. So are these both names for the same parish? If so, is there preference for which name to use?
Thanks for any input,

- Sankt Marie sogn (1957 -) is called Sønderborg sogn on AO.
Christians sogn is not on AO:

Inger, thank you for this information.
Since nearly all my dates are from 1580 to late 1800s, I believe that I will use Sønderborg parish. I'll check any dates after 1957 to see if the new parish names apply.
