Hello,
I have the death record for my Margrethe Jørgensdatter and I cannot tell if it says that her husband, Anders Jensen, has pre-deceased her or not.
Death record #4 on 6 Jun 1833 here: https://www.sa.dk/ao-soegesider/en/billedviser?epid=21637436#392933,74319054 (https://www.sa.dk/ao-soegesider/en/billedviser?epid=21637436#392933,74319054)
Confirmation records also have some writing that I cannot make out but might shed light on what happened to poor Anders Jensen.

This might be him in the Census.

hi Rebecca,
I've looked in the listed records and nothing indicates that Anders should have passed away. I searched the family in Århus county for 1834, but they didn't show up. Maybe they have moved further away than Århus county. A possibility would be to find Anders in the military levying rolls (lægdsruller) and follow him from there. I have inserted part of the text from the records below.
Death record for Margrethe Jørgensdatter
Indsidder Anders Jensens Hu-
strue i Gjeding.
Indsidder is an old Danish word for a person, who is renting a place to live on a farm. So the text means:
This person (indsidder) Anders Jensen's wi-
fe in Gjeding.
Kirsten Andersdatter 1825 in Ølsted
Kirsten Andersdatter for Sognefoged
Andreas Jensen i Ølsted confirme[-]
ret i Foldby Kirke.
It just says that Kirsten had her confirmation in Foldby church and it was done by the parish executive officer Andreas Jensen.
The next column just mentions the parents:
Faderen Indsidder Anders Jensen
i Gjeding Tilst Sogn. Moderen
Margrethe Jørgensdatter.
Karen Marie Andersdatter 1831 in Tilst
It's just the parents mentioned again:
Forældrene Anders Jensen Indsidder i
Gjeding og Margrethe Jørgensdatter.
Jakob Andersen 1822 in Tilst
Same information with the names of the parents:
Forældrene Anders Jensen og Margrethe
Jørgensdatter Indsidderfolk i Gjeding

Thank you so much Lennarth!
CitatIndsidder Anders Jensens Hu-
strue i Gjeding.
So if he is listed as 'insidder' then chances are he is still alive in 1833 when Margrethe Jørgensdatter dies. Usually I see 'Enke efter' if the spouse has died before them.
This does not explain why I cannot find poor Anders in Århus, Denmark for the 1834 Census. So far, all I have found is that the children stayed in Århus, Denmark except for the confirmation of Kirsten Andersdatter in Ølsted, Vester Lisbjerg, Århus, Denmark.
hi again Rebecca,
you're welcome. Yes, I'd expect that he's still alive after Margrethe's death. You can also try to find an administration (skifte) after Margrethe, which should confirm, if Anders is still alive after her death. There's a good historic dictionary with Danish words, but the explanations are in Danish only. Here's an example with the word indsidder:
https://ordnet.dk/ods/ordbog?query=indsidder&tab=for (https://ordnet.dk/ods/ordbog?query=indsidder&tab=for)
Sometimes, you'll also see the abbrevation afd., which stands for afdøde (=deceased). Anders could have moved in 1833 or 1834 and then you wouldn't find him in Århus county. It doesn't seem like it as I didn't find him in list of people, who has moved out of the parish (afgangsliste):
https://www.sa.dk/ao-soegesider/da/billedviser?bsid=392934#392934,74319083 (https://www.sa.dk/ao-soegesider/da/billedviser?bsid=392934#392934,74319083)
If he has moved you should also be able to find it in the military levying (lægdsruller) rolls as mentioned. Here'll you'll find the entrance for lægdsruller and skifter:

Lennarth
Thank you for that information and the links Lennarth.
I think I found the marriage record for Margrethe Jørgensdatter and Anders Jensen on 21 Nov 1801 in Hårslev, Skovby, Odense, Denmark.
Here 2nd from the top on the right: https://www.sa.dk/ao-soegesider/en/billedviser?bsid=179649#179649,30466353 (https://www.sa.dk/ao-soegesider/en/billedviser?bsid=179649#179649,30466353)
This led me to the Census and I think I find her as follows:

The marriage record seems to indicate that Anders Jensen was also in Ejlskov at the time of their marriage but this does not match up with what I thought I had for him. The 1801 Census is the only Anders Jensen in the parish besides another Anders who is only 1 years old.
I thought I had found him in 1801 living in Tilst with his mother but now I am wondering if I have that wrong.
Karen Andersdatter 60 Enke husmoder bondekone, gaardbeboer
Niels Jensen 29 Ugift hendes søn
Anders Jensen 28 Ugift hendes søn
I am starting to think that his parents were not Jens Nielsen Trige and Karen Andersdatter after all.
I am still looking for a death record for him in hopes that it might name his father or give me a clue as to where he is from.
Anders Jensen reported that his wife Ane Margrethe Jørgensdatter had died on 6 June -

The children are listed:

- do - Karen Marie Andersdatter, ugift
son Jacob Andersen, husmand i Weilbye [Vejlby, Hasle, Århus]
daughter Mette Marie Andersdatter gift med tjenestekarl Søren? Jensen i Haldum
Trige, Vester Lisbjerg, Århus (https://www.sa.dk/ao-soegesider/da/billedviser?bsid=170818#170818,28675412):
Anders Jensen in Zeuthen [Søften] and Ane Magrete Jørgensdatter, Trige married on 25 Nov 1806 - left 2. marriage
Thank you so much Britta!
I had no idea they had a daughter named Mette Marie. I have been unable to locate a birth for her and I searched Tilst, Hasle, Århus, Denmark 1802-1824. I also could not locate a marriage for her in Tilst, Hasle, Århus, Denmark or Haldum, Sabro, Århus, Denmark from 1814-1833 (when her mother died). I also could not locate a confirmation in Tilst 1814-1834. I also checked Ølsted, Vester Lisbjerg, Århus, Denmark 1814-1833 where Kirsten Andersdatter had her confirmation and did not find a record. I then checked Folby for a confirmation 1814-1835 and did not find a record there.
I found this in the skiteprotokol for Ane Margrethe Jørgensdatter but I do not think it reveals much.
