Was there an epidemic in 1700 in Denmark?  Possibly smallpox or influenza.  A search did not turn up anything.

I have found at least 4 deaths in Niels Sørensen Gied and Else Lauritsdatters family in 1700.  They lived in Sønder Tranders, Aalborg amt.

At the end of each year the vicar i Sønder Tranders sums up the number of born and died.
The number of dead from 1695 and forward: 3-4-5-3-9-21-11-6-3-10-5, where in 1700 were buried 21 persons,
some between 20 to 30, but mostly older people.

What the causes of death was is not possible to say, but certainly not smallpox.
And there was no epidemic this year in greater parts of Denmark.

Deaths inside a family might very well have been caused by tuberculosis - it's not a fast, but slow killer.
