Kristina Hansdotter (b. in Sweden 30-03-1870, d. in Denmark 18-08-1937) was married to Carl Christian Andreas Georg Vang (b. in Denmark 17-03-1863, d. in America 10-09-1943). Together they had 9 children. However, Carl emigrated to America (departed 04-04-1907) and then Kristina had 2 more children:
1) Poul Borge Hansen (b. 17-03-1909, d. 13-02-1968). His birth record (https://www.sa.dk/ao-soegesider/da/billedviser?epid=17117971#155195,25920429) states Carl is the father, but he was born almost 2 years after Carl left and according to my family history, he never went back. From Census data, Poul was raised by Johan and Andrea Rasmussen and later his name was Poul Borge Rasmussen. In the 1911 Census he is listed as a foster child. Are there Denmark adoption records available? I did find his death record (https://www.sa.dk/ao-soegesider/da/billedviser?epid=17117971#155222,25927365), which states his father was Alfred Pedersen (I don't know who this is and all I have is the name). Where would they get this information? From the family at the time of death?
2) Lilly Valborg Mathea Hansen (b. 21-05-1911, d. 21-01-1988). Her birth record (https://www.sa.dk/ao-soegesider/en/billedviser?epid=17120079#159354,26793785) does not list a father and lists her mother as an abandoned wife. Lilly lived with her mother, Kristina, until the 1925 Census and her 1925 confirmation record also lists her mother as an abandoned wife. I can't find any information about her after 1925. I think I got her date of death from a distant relative's tree on another website. I know she had at least one child because I have a photo and it has "Valborg Hansen & her daughter" on the back.
I believe both children lived in Bornholm their whole life, but not 100% sure about Lilly (I think she went by Valborg).
Thanks
Poul Børge was baptized 2 Jan. 1910 in Klemensker Church:
https://www.sa.dk/ao-soegesider/da/billedviser?epid=17116750#152802,25443836 - last entry in 1909
- no father mentioned. Witnesses: shopkeeper Rasmussen and Mrs Rasmussen are probalby his foster parents.
Remark in Rønne churchbook: Kgl. bevill. af 7-3-1931 'Royal decree 7 Mar. 1931'. Could be adoption, or name change.

You could try to contact Ankestyrelsen https://ast.dk/ to find out whether he was adopted, or not. They have a card index of adoptions.
The info you need to give them, is the name and birth date of the child.
Paternity cases can only be found at the Archives:
https://www.sa.dk/da/hjaelp-og-vejledning/rigsarkivets-online-vejledninger/faderskabssager-kom-godt-gang/
I'm not familiar with Bornholm, so cannot guide you any further.

Hi,
I was once told by the Ankestyrelsen that their card index of adoptions has been sent to Rigsarkivet.
Eva M
I have asked them recently, and also got help from them.
Inger,
"You could try to contact Ankestyrelsen https://ast.dk/ to find out whether he was adopted, or not. They have a card index of adoptions.

I don't read Danish, so I'm having difficulty navigating this website. Can you tell me how to get to the web page to submit an inquiry?
Thanks.

The information they can give you, if he was adopted, is the Journalnummer needed for finding the adoption documents at the Archives.

I received an email from ast.dk.
"According to our information, Poul Borge Rasmussen has not been adopted.
He has only been allowed to change his last name to Rasmussen."
Inger, do you have a direct link to or tell me how to navigate to:
"Remark in Rønne churchbook: Kgl. bevill. af 7-3-1931 'Royal decree 7 Mar. 1931'. Could be adoption, or name change. "
Thanks,

Maybe info about the name change could be found in one of the protocols mentioned below, kept at the Danish National Archives in Copenhagen:

- but not certain there would be information about the biological father.

Seems he used the foster parents' surname Rasmussen already before it was officially granted:
Bornholm, Nørre, Klemensker, Klemensker, , 5, FT-1930, D8342
Name: Age: Marital status: Position in household: Occupation: Birth place :
Andrea Kathrine Rasmussen 23-feb 1879 E Husmoder Rentier Ruthsker

His wife was born in Østerlars:

Name of father Alfred Pedersen in the death record should, in my opinion, be based on documents.

Inger
