Have seen some death references from Hennepin Min. I dont know which data base is the best. There are many Larsen´s

Maybe someone from Minnesota have a clue

FamilySearch only has the index to Minnesota death records.

You can try ordering a copy of the death certificate from the Minnesota Historical Society.  They charge $9 each.

http://www.mnhs.org/people/deathrecords

You can also search their database of birth, death, census and veterans records for your other Larsens:

hej

Still searching for the family in Hennepin Minnesota

We do know from Fam Search, the death of father Jacob and mother Karen. References seems clear and I have ordered the certificates USD 9 each
I am still in question regarding Kai. The only Kai Erik Larsen is actually in Fam Search too (death 1973) however with a different birthdate

We do know that our Kai is born 18/12-1898. Could it be a wrong B date in Fam Search?

Kai Erik Larsen is not a common name, so quite strange with two Kai´s

Anybody in Hennepin who might be able to look again. I was thinking of orbitaries in the newspapers etc

I think I found an obituary for the K.E. Larsen who died in 1973.  See page 19 of Den Danske Pioneer, 27 Dec 1973:

http://box2.nmtvault.com/DanishIM/jsp/RcWebImageViewer.jsp?doc_id=b96204af-9aed-4289-91de-20a4b022c191/iaehdim0/20130327/00003696 (http://box2.nmtvault.com/DanishIM/jsp/RcWebImageViewer.jsp?doc_id=b96204af-9aed-4289-91de-20a4b022c191/iaehdim0/20130327/00003696)

You can search the old Danish-American newspapers here (be sure to try initials K. E. in addition to Kaj/Kai Erik).

Thanks Lynn
This is interesting. Who is the person signing at No 18, "The above is thrue to the best of my knowledge" Is that a relative?
He/she has a surname Olsen

Dear Lisa, Thank you but unfortunately this is not my Kai.
We know for sure that he was born 18/12-1898 and came with his parents to the us in 1906
He could have been draftet for 1 WW.
Anyway he seems to have disappeared, we dont know where to

Ulrik

I only searched the Danish-American newspapers for the Kai Larsen who died in 1973.  I think you can eliminate him, in spite of the unusual name.  I leave it to you to search the newspapers with the link I gave you for your K./Kai/Kaj Erik/E. Larsen/Larson.

I also checked the Canadian Great War Project for Kai/Kaj/Erik Larsen/Larson and didn't find him.  It was common for young men in the U.S. to enlist in Canadian forces, especially before the U.S. entered the war.

It is possible he moved to Canada.  (I've had the same thoughts myself lately!)

Here is another question

Point 18 on the "Death Certificate"

Who is the person signing at No 18? "The above is true to the best of my knowledge" Is that a relative or friend?

Rgds

Yes, good question.  Usually it is a relative, but sometimes someone in an official position.  There was an Agnes C. Olson who was a secretary at the Masonic Home where he died.  She probably used the records of the Masonic Home for the death certificate.

https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:33S7-9RHJ-RMK?i=34&cc=1810731 (https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:33S7-9RHJ-RMK?i=34&cc=1810731)

I think you are back to needing obituaries for the parents.

Good luck,

If I get this correct. The "Mansonic home" was/is some form of institution or asylum

I understand that father Jacob had been there for more than a year, where he died and was buried from. Who payed for all this? Did he have an insurance perhaps, or someone (Kai) payed for him

It was a home offering care for Masons members.  It still exists:

https://www.mnmasonichomes.org/who-we-are/history-of-our-home/ (https://www.mnmasonichomes.org/who-we-are/history-of-our-home/)

You could send them an email and ask if they have a historian (possibly a volunteer) who could search their records for names of Jacob's relatives.

It was fairly common for Danish-Americans to join organizations such as the Masons, Independent Order of Odd Fellows, and the Danish Brotherhood.  They paid dues every year they were a member, and a little of that money paid for benefits such as their burial when they died.  Living in the Masonic Home may also have been a benefit -- if you were unable to live alone and did not have family members taking care of you, you could live in the home during your last years.  He might not have had to pay anything.

Hi again

Just received the death-certificates for both Jacob and Karen. Both are buried at the Chrystal cemetery Hennepin MI. There are no trace of their son Kai. Jacob was the "related" writing in Karens paper, and in 1943 a local at the Masonic home obviously wrote for Jacob.

I believe
1. That Kai disappears (to some place) in the 1920-ties, maybe in connection to his mothers death
2. That Kai may have been handicapped from birth and died young
3. That Kai may have slipped into WWI in Europe and vanished there

I am still open for any inputs from anybody

Dear Verner

Unfortunately the mentioned Kai/Ray is not my Kai Erik Larsen born 18/12 1898 in CPH
I already received info about this other person with similar name, same origin and living in Hennepin. I ordered the death certificate for this Kai just to be sure. We are sure this is not the correct person, however admitted strange similarities.

Still the last trace we have about our Kai, is the US census from 1920

Thx for your effort and input
