It seems that Nis(s) Lassen/Larsen is not mentioned with the surname Lund in the church records.

Inger
Hi Inger
Thank you for the information so any idea when it became Lund or how it became Lund from Larsen/ Nis as when Anna Married Christian Jorgensen my GG Grandfather Hans surname was Lund!
I didn't have those census that you have given me thank you very much for those.
Kind Regards
Kaileana Lund
Anna was baptized with the surname Lund. I haven't checked her siblings.
In 1771, the inhabitants in the Duchy of Schleswig were ordered to give their children fixed surnames (much earlier
than in the Kingdom of Denmark). Many parents in Northern Schleswig (Sønderjylland) chose to give their children
the byname by which the family was known in the local community (instead of a surname ending in -sen).
The fixed surname could come from either the paternal, or the maternal side.
You can read about this here (in Danish):
http://nfi.ku.dk/publikationer/webpublikationer/ddsoefternavnetshistorie.pdf/ - page 5
You see Anna's surname in the confirmation record 1806, but in the 1803 census she's recorded with her patronymic Nissen. It probably took a while to get used to the fixed surnames.
Best regards,
Inger
Hi Inger
Thank you very much for that information I never knew that and was wondering how it become. Stories passed down through the family was that the Danish royals gave the name Lund to the family but I never knew if this was true or not. If it was just another thing that was just rumoured was something to do with a child being an orphan and that was the name given to him and had been carried on from that generation.
Any other information about the siblings I'd be greatly appreciated.
Kind Regards
Kaileana Lund :)

Searching for Anna's siblings, I noticed that this was not the only family in Jels parish using the surname Lund.
And, indeed, the father was recorded as Niss Lassen Lund at the birth of son Berthel in 1774.
