If I am reading this correctly, it says he was a male pensioner in Vollerup when he died at age 60.
Does that indicate that his wife would have been dead at that point? Or can I not make that assumption? My understanding of a pensioner was an older individual living with someone else. Were they always cared for by the state?
Thanks,
Ric

Hi,
Peder H is an aftægtsmand "pensioner, former owner, supported by the new owner of landed property, especially by a son providing for his father".
It doesn't say he is a widower.

Name: Age: Marital status: Position in houshold: Occupation:

Peder Hansen 59 Enkemand dennes Fader og Aftægtsmd [Niels Pedersen]
Karen Pedersdatter 36 Ugift hans Datter [Peder Hansen]
Peder Nielsen 25 Ugift Væver = Lærling [Peder Hansen]
It seems he was a widower, but the church record does not contain that info.

Thank you, Eva and Inger. That helps confirm some things for me.
