I've been searching for the death of Bodil Hendriksdatter in Ronnebaek parish in Praesto Amt. The family lived in Sipperup Bye. From the census records she apparently died between 1845 and 1860. Her husband Peder Hendriksen died in nearby Ronnebaeksholm 17 Dec 1862. I have been unable to find a death record with her name, but did find the death of a Bodil Larsdatter in Sipperup who died 13 Aug 1853, was married to a Peder Hendriksen and is the correct age. From a census search I could not find any Bodil Larsdatter living in Sipperup, especially one married to a Peder Hendriksen. Bodil's father was Hendrik Larsen. I wonder if the priest and/or clerk just got the name wrong in the church book?

I think you're right about the error.
The name is recorded as Bodil Larsdatter also in the main church book:

Inger,
Thanks for your input!
Some errors are to be expected. I am still glad for all the information recorded and preserved in the church and census records!

Hello Art,
for sure you have found the correct person :-)
But please understand it was not really an error...but a result of vague legislation. Between 1828 and 1856 there were a lot of confusion concerning the last name - originally a patronym (Hendriksdatter in your case) being fixed to a family name (Larsen in this case). The priest often made his personal interpretation of the law, so the official name in the church records could be different from the daily naming in the public. This is often seen in this period. ;-)
By a new law in 1856, the naming was clarified (as a fixed family name), but even then not always respected by the local priest (who still interpretated this as a patronym)!
best regards
Bjørn
