According to Maren Nielsdatter's death record(Købelev sogn 1834) she was born at Ladegård, Hunseby sogn, Maribo amt about 1767. The 1787 census for Maribo amt, Hunseby sogn reported a Niels Pedersen 61 yrs, skovfoged, at Knuthenborg Gård. Count Eggert Christopher Knuth owned Maribo Ladegård & Knuthenborg from 1747 to 1776. I am trying to determine if Niels Pedersen is Maren's father.
Was Ladegård a part of Knuthenborg at that time or were they 2 separate manors?
Thanks, Rog Nelson
Ladegård is NOT a manor. It's the farm buildings belonging to a manor.
Nakskov Ladegaard was in Branderslev parish. If the death record is accurate Maren was born before the Branderslev register begins, and confirmed before the confirmation records there are preserved.
Your best bet is to find the probate of the man you think is her father. But, depending on the style of the parish records from the 1770's, you may find Maren, Niels Pedersen's daughter, named as a godmother or witness to a baptism.
Thanks Helmer & Ralph, I checked the Branderslev sogn & found "Maren datter of Niels Nielsen from Ladegaard, døbt 1769." I had incorrectly assumed that Ladegaard was in the Hunseby sogn and that Niels Pedersen was her father.
You are a great help. Best wishes, Rog Nelson
The census in 1801 shows Maren in her second marriage, and since 1796-1797. It happens to be Købelev FS image 67, August 3, 1800.
