I would like to find the ship my Grandfather immigrated from Denmark to USA. John Christian Winther was born 19 June 1879 in Kobenhavn Denmark. He was on the Denmark 1901 Census. I believe I found him on the 1905 U.S. Census only his name was spelled ( Vinter ) and still single at that time. This was in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. However he married in 1907 to Emma Christine Lauritzen in Racine, Wisconsin. Later moved to Shawano, Wisconsin and lived there for the rest of his life.

James, I searched for John's immigration when you posted earlier, and tried again today, but can not find him any spelling in passenger lists.   The year of immigration column is blank for John and Emma in 1910 census, in 1920 John listed 1899 and Emma 1894, and in 1930 John listed 1895 and Emma 1897.  Perhaps he came to USA as a crew member, and thus is not on the passenger lists.

In 1900 Oshkosh census, Emma Lauritzen, single, born Nov 1880 Denmark is listed as a servant, year of immigration 1890.

This is probably her registration for emigration:

Name:  Lauritzen, Emma Occupation:  Sypige
Age:  17 Destination:  Oshkosh, Wisc.
Contract no.:  123100 Registration date:  7/30/1897
Birth place:  ? Birth place:  ?
Last res. parish:  Astrup Last res. county:  Aalborg
Last residence:  Astrup, Aalborg Destination country:  USA
Destination city:  Oshkosh Destination state:  Wisconsin
Name of ship:  Indirekte
IDcode:  I9497L4113

Emma 17 and a brother Engelbrecht O. Lauritzen 21 arrived Philadelphia 22 Aug 1897 from Liverpool on the ship Rhynland, their destination a brother James Lauritzen in Oshkosh.
