Frederik was baptised in church on Oct 17, 1852.  His parents were husmand Niels Bach and his wife Ane Frederiksdatter, aged 33, both from (Faartoft is crossed out as explained in the record) Thisted Mark.  The witnesses, sponsors, etc. were Niels Faartofts wife, Jens Diges? wife, Christen Bach, Christen Olsen and single man Christen Jensen.  A police inquiry of ? 19 November it was found that the parents? do not live in Faartoft but iin Thisted Mark.

His confirmation from 1867 is found in AO from 1854-1869 ... Thisted Amt, Hundborg Herred, Thisted Sogn ... opslag 374 nummer 29.  Here his name is given as Bak.

I read the name as no first name but Hagensen last name and miss. No age. Miss Hagensen. Could she be travelling with Maren Monrad? 1st cabin. Her maid?

He travelled alone on his ticket.

This miss Hagensen? without first name has 1st cabin below is Maren Monrad whose cabin is marked ". Funny rnough this miss has no luggage. It was just a guess.

If you type the ticket number 300400 in the database and the date of approval and USA you only get Frederik's name.

It seems that there is no trace of Frederik Severin Bak after he leaves Denmark on the Hekla.

His name in the passenger manifest has been interpreted as Frederik Bach on FS so maybe you should look for Bach, Buck, Bock. Frederik may have been shortened to Fred.

From what I have about Frederik Severin Baks birth, confirmation and FT 1870 Thisted, I am almost sure that the Frederik Severin Bak in the FT Viborg 1880 and in the church record AO Viborg, Nørlyng, Viborg Sortebrødre, 1914-1925D opslag 87 is the same Frederik Severin Bak I have been looking for. 

In the FT 1870 he is a lærling ... Frederik Severin Bak 17 Ugift-Lærling Thisted ... maybe he was a lærling som tobakshandler? That would agree with the church record of his death.

He was my great-grandmother, Ane Nielsen Bak's (married to my great-grandfather, Lars Kristian Pedersen Hulgaard) brother.  One brother, Peder Tøfting Nielsen Bach and his wife Kirsten Marie Nielsen (father Niels Christensen Jespersen from Tilsted and his wife Ane Marie Larsen) did go to the U.S.A. to Worchester, Massachusetts with his 8 children in 1896.
