I am looking for information on the parents of my great grandfather. I have found a Rygaard family in  Lemvig but that is not the correct family. The date of birth for their Peter is not compatible with my ancestor.

And in a old family book by Oscar Rygaard from 1924 I can see the writer says this:

Hans Peter Rygaard, born april 24, 1839. He was a baker. Immigration to Nordborg on the island of Als.

Married and 3 child.

1. Anna april 1867
2. Marie feb. 1871
3. Peder mar. 1874

Why Hans Peter took to Nordborg, after we 3 years before have lost the island to Germany is a big question for me.
A brother to Hans Peter was in a city by name Flensborg as we also lost to Germany.

The island of Als was germain from 1864-1920. And from 1920 danish again.

Another brother by name Barthold Marius Rygaard. His wife also immigate to USA after 1883.
Hers name was Kirstine.

In the book you can go back to about 1630.
