The Bugge family name,

 My 9 great grandfather Mouritz Jensen 'Bugge' died Jan 1698 in Gudum, Gudum Sogn.  He was the son of Jens Bugge.  Jens and Mouritz are not listed as descendants of Niels Bugge in a book about the 14th century knight.  Could they be related or was the 'Bugge' name used by other families of no relationship?

I have no idea, but a couple of books have been written about the Bugge family (slægt):
There is a book about the family Bugge in Denmark and Norway:
"Slægten Bugge i Danmark og Norge" written by Peter Christian Baliau Bondesen, several editions  (ex 1910)
and
"Slægten Jensen og Bugge; aner og efterslægt (ancestors and descendants) :
  fra mine 4 tip oldeforældre Jens Nielsen og Bodil Christensdatter Bugge : Svejstrupgård, Råsted" by Else Larsen 2005.
