7 great grandfather Niels Pedersen "Peen" born abt. 1678 in Gudum Sogn, Aalborg Amt and died 28 Sep 1755 in Gudum Sogn.  His daughter, Anne Nielsdatter "Peen," was born in Gudum 1713 and died Feb 1773 in Gudum.  What is the origin or meaning of the nickname "Peen?"

Hi Roger,

It might be the way he himself pronounced his second name Pedersen in the local dialect.
He snapped away the middle section 'ders', and left was Peen. And as Pedersen was/is a very common name, and maybe
there was another man (or more) there with the same name Niels Pedersen.
So when the local people talked about 'Niels Peen', they knew exactly which Niels Pedersen it was.
