Louis "Lars" Hanson

I've been trying to determine the origin of Louis "Lars" Hanson who appears to have emigrated from Denmark to the USA about 1868.  The 1900 US Census give his birth date as Feb 1848.  His marriage lists his father as Hans Jefferson and his mother as Anna Larson.  I assume that all their named have been "Americanized".  Since Jefferson/Jeffersen was not common in Denmark, I made the guess that his father's name might have been Jeppesen.

I did find a Lars Hansen born in Kalvehave parish, Praesto Amt, on 23 Feb 1848 to Hans Jeppesen and Ane Larsdatter.

I don't know if it is significant, but his wife was born in Ronnebaek parish, Praesto Amt.

Several bits fit together, but it is a fairly weak link.  Does anyone have any thoughts or ideas on how to proceed?

Ask someone to clarify the text (he did not meet at the Military Board as he was supposed to). They searched for him '1872 Ei fundet' - not found.

In the Copenhagen roll 1864 it's written that his place of residence (Bopæl)  is Vallensbæk Mark
(same place that's mentioned at his confirmation 1862).
But in 1866 he is not known to the military board in Vallensbæk.  1862 cfm i Frue Kirke ...

Thanks for your efforts!  It is far from proof, but everything fits together.  I find it interesting that I have not been able to find someone who could be this Lars Hansen in either the Copenhagen Emigration Records or in the US arrival records.  It would seem that this person may have somehow traveled in a way to avoid being exposed if he might have been avoiding military service.

Maybe he emigrated earlier. The military authorities couldn't find him in 1866.
Could he have emigrated via Canada?

Hi Lars and Lis.  Sorry to be late getting back to this!  I been away from any genealogy for a while and had not checked this forum.

Lars Hansen's wife Ane Marie Olsen is my 2nd-great-aunt and I've got her branch of the family pretty well documented.  Her oldest sister Marie Dorthea Margrethe Olsen married my great-grandfather Jørgen Jørgensen on 10 Jan 1872 in Nebraska, USA.  They had been sweethearts in Rønnebæk parish, Praesto, and emigrated together in 1869.  Marie's father Ole Jørgensen followed them to Nebraska in 1874 along with some of his other children (including Ane Marie Olsen) and settled on a nearby farm.

When Lars Hansen came to the USA, he went by the name Louis Hanson.  He marred Ane Marie Olsen on 13 Sep 1875 in Lincoln, Nebraska, USA.  I believe they are both buried in the Danish Cemetery near Davey, Nebraska, USA.  I have them having 5 children, all born in the Davey, Nebraska area.

Ingrid, thanks for your efforts, but that grave is a different Jorgen Jorgensen.  My Jorgen Jorgensen
was naturalized under the name John Johnson and used that name later in life.  They eventually moved from Nebraska to Portland, Oregon, because of Marie's health.  Both John and Marie were buried in River View Cemetery in Portland.
